Charles Donelan's write-up of "That Great Rock Mass" exhibition in the May/June issue of Art Ltd Magazine is out! Really poured a lot into this darn show, and it's nice to get some kind words and critical feedback.
Kid Tested, Kid Approved
In the context of creating work for exhibitions, I've always "kidded" with curators that my work could be considered "kid friendly." I say this, never sure whether it's actually a good thing, as it likely means being relegated to some less thought-provoking or less "daring" sideline amidst the more important cerebral work that needs to be done out there. Nevertheless, seeing these images here -- the work of 3rd graders responding to the show at the Carnegie -- I'm reminded of the importance of making work that can engage and incite the imagination of anyone at any age. (The bear with the rock on it's back is brilliant -- might have to borrow that idea back!)
