In the context of creating work for exhibitions, I've always "kidded" with curators that my work could be considered "kid friendly." I say this, never sure whether it's actually a good thing, as it likely means being relegated to some less thought-provoking or less "daring" sideline amidst the more important cerebral work that needs to be done out there. Nevertheless, seeing these images here -- the work of 3rd graders responding to the show at the Carnegie -- I'm reminded of the importance of making work that can engage and incite the imagination of anyone at any age. (The bear with the rock on it's back is brilliant -- might have to borrow that idea back!)
